Schroon Lake

Adirondacks, NY.
So often on a hiking day, you'd like to be somewhere for sunrise, but it doesn't always work out. Driving to further destinations north, I hit Schroon Lake up on the highway above around surise, and as always, cursed the fact that it looks beautiful from a vantage above it, but the highway is the ONLY vantage above it with an open view. So I detoured down into town and wandered. Ended up at the public docks, empty this early in the morning. Surprised at no activity from fisherman, I took advantage but nearly met disaster with my first step onto the deck, covered with a very fine layer of ice that almost sent me sliding off into the drink.
