Yosemite National Park, California. Before the sun rose, I climbed the domed uplift east of here, looking for an angle, a more unique view into the surrounding peaks or maybe even Tenaya Lake. I stopped when I reached an uncomfortable enough angle to worry about boot grip, and waited out the morning event. Cloud and mist lifted and settled everywhere, obscuring this, enhancing that, and the sunrise developed weak and not very colorful. I was mostly disappointed. Back at the starting point, I walked up to this iconic scene, one I've photographed often before but with a softer and more mysterious backdrop today. These erratics and Jeffery pine are a chapter of Zen, and never fail to satisfy my sense of balance.
