Fogbow and Farm, Olympic Penninsula, WA.
So often I am struck by a vision in a difficult place to shoot, and end up letting it go. Having left Port Angeles before sunrise, I was some ways towards Tacoma when this scene unfolded--all I had to do was pull off and grab it. The sun was breaching hills behind and to the side of me, causing a massive foreground shadow, but pulling in a side road towards the farmhouse, or going back up the way I came were not optimal for the fogbow, so now I was stuck with the hiway and nowhere to pull off. Most of me was saying screw it, it's too much hassle, when I found a little roadside track that went up into the woods, and said screw it I'm getting it. I splashed into tractor ruts, jumped out with my gear into the mud, hurried up and across the road, jumped a ditch into knee high wet grass, and got a few images next to the fence before the apparition disappeared. The contrast made processing on this image a bear. Sometimes even the ones that should be easy...are not.
