Ritter Range, Ansel Adams Wilderness California.
Near Mammoth, I followed the San Joaquin Ridge, looking across Shadow Creek Canyon to Banner Peak and the Minarets. I'd camped the night before in Toulomne Meadows, waking with a bit of snow on the tent, but it was colder still on this barren ridge at 9000 feet. I hurried to vantage points, hiking towards Deadman Pass, knowing that the building clouds were going to overwhelm the Minarets soon. The unobstructed view from the Sierra Crest was amazing in it's scope.
I struggled with this 10 shot vertical pan from several standpoints, not the least of which was simply how and whether to crop it--as I zoomed in on the Minarets I found myself just wanting to concentrate on them and the way the clouds were pouring over their jagged peaks. In the end I decided to leave it alone as a big panorama (this is probably 160 degrees) and investigate the "smaller" landscape of the Minarets on another session.
