White Point, Cape Breton, Canada
In the late evening, the weakening light raked across the grass and intensified the greens of the meadow atop the cliffs that dropped off the point. A dirt track led up here to about the high ground, then descended down to land's end, broken in pieces and split by the sea. The random houses of the community are tucked back over the hill and spread out around the cove, sturdy structures strategically out of the elements. It must be a welcome place, over that hill or around the breakwall when you need to get out of the elements. And if the elements include an escape from the pressures of living a hectic life, there's shelter from that here, too.
