Sunrise, Schroon Lake

There was a chill by the water, and slow fingers struggled with camera and tripod while waiting out the sunrise on Schroon Lake. But the cold was soon forgotten as the sparse clouds picked up color and the light intensified. In another few weeks this lake will be a solid ice sheet, dotted with fishing shanties, snowmobiles, and even pickup trucks. For now, it is giving up the last of it's heat each day, contrails lifting off the water into the colder air above.
