Blue Mountain Lake, Adirondacks, NY 16676.
Blue Mountain is close to the geographical center of the Adirondacks. A bit east of the end of the lake is the divide, where waters east flow to the Hudson River Watershed, while westerly flows go to the St Lawrence. A modest hike brings you halfway down the lake to Castle Rock. The real estate of the ledge is pretty limited, but what a view over a lake that takes it's color seriously.
