Cutler, Maine
The greens of spring greeted me in Cutler, perched on one side of Little Machias Bay way up on the Maine Coast. After a day of light to heavy rain, the sky began to break up as storm clouds moved out. A small fleet of lobster boats were moored at low tide, the business I imagine of most of the 500 or so people in this small community. On the docks in town, there were views of the ships and the channel to the Atlantic, stacked traps, New England architecture, and life by the sea. But it was across the bay on a dirt road that I found my composition giving of a sense of the fleet and it's home.
