The Hudson River, Autumn, Glen, NY.
You usually have to work for it in the Adirondacks. For most of the images I got on this autumn weekend, I hiked 17 miles in two days on three hikes. It's just that there aren't that many roadside opportunities. And usually this isn't one, but on this morning I saw the scene driving across the bridge at Glen, stopped, and ran back. This is early morning in the North country: the kiss of sunrise, the increasing intensity of color, the mystery of beyond being revealed in the rising fog. Cold fingers and the smell of wood smoke.
