Saranac River, St Armand
Adirondacks.
Standing at the bottom of the bend, in the face of the oncoming water, there wasn't much indication of the current except for a whorl here and there. I was concentrating more on the nodal pont and swing of the panorama on my tripod. A crackling noise followed by a louder thud shook me away from the camera viewfinder to see waves of ice sheets coming down the river. The illusion of depth in the dark water made me think it was slow, but the ice came downstream at a pretty good clip. I had to fire off the verticals of the pan fairly fast hoping to align the moving ice. The Saranac here is in the St Armand region, north of Saranac Lake.
