OK Slip Brook, Adirondacks, NY. I could hear the falls, but the forest was so thick I was surprised when I came upon the stream. I guess it didn't need much room to run. Foliage and overhang is reclaiming what it can, little by little. For it's part, the stream runs bank to bank, no sand bars, no shallows, just a straight run pushing hard in the middle just to show it won't give in. I stand on a small bridge above OK Brook, wondering if it ever floods, just to get back at the forest which gives up it's hold so grudgingly. Don't we all get hemmed in, squeezed by the universe around us. It would be nice to walk up one bank or the other, to see which direction is the better choice, but in the woods it is a long walk either way to find out. I wish I could break out of the middle, I need room to run
